Lys Hix is a counsellor for young people, children and parents. She partners parents and young people to support and steer them through difficult times in their lives.Lys Hix says: Parenting is one of the hardest jobs for which none of us receive any training. When our children are very young there is lots of external support, then as they grow older it can often seem that there is none. Many parents find it hard to help their children with emotional issues.It is much easier for an outsider to get to the route of the problem.
My approach focuses on not only working with young people on a one to one basis but also equipping parents to deal with the stress and anxiety particular difficulties may have caused. My therapy is normally short term and focuses on the now.

One of my particular strengths is my ability to connect with young people. One client reported that her ten year old son almost regretted that his problem had been solved so quickly because he had so enjoyed his sessions with me.

My service is particularly focused on parents and their children between the ages of 4 and 18, although I can also help people who don't fall in this age range. My approach involves a unique blend of guidance for parents alongside specialised counselling tailored to the needs of young people. I work mostly in Sevenoaks, Bromley, Tunbridge Wells and the surrounding area.
Parents are often pleasantly surprised how few sessions their child needs. This is due to the particular way in which I work as explained more on the "Help for Parents" page.
