Home. Happy family

Lysbeth Hix is a life coach and counsellor for teenagers, young children and parents. She partners parents and young people to support and steer them through difficult times in their lives.

Thank you for visiting my website.

Do you find your child is often angry for no apparent reason? Their performance at school is slipping? They are withdrawn and you cannot reach them? When you punish their bad behaviour the punishment isn't working?

These behaviours are often blamed on “hormones” or “being difficult”. But in my experience that is very unusual, there is almost always a specific, identifiable cause such as parental separation, bullying or sibling rivalry which the child is not able to express in words. The Partnering Parents approach is to work with your child so that together we can find a way for them to say what is troubling them, and then to give you strategies to deal with it.

I tend to use the term Life Coach rather than Counsellor as young people sometimes think there must be something "freaky" about them if their parents want to send them to a Counsellor. Life Coaching is for anybody who wants to do things differently or better.

All of my successes come from a firm foundation built around a relationship between you, me, and your child. I find the best way to see if we can build a framework that can work for your specific situation is through an initial conversation together, entirely on a no obligation basis.
A few minutes of your time may save years of heartache.

I work evenings and weekends because that's when my clients are most often free to see me.

My Approach

My approach focuses on not only working with young people on a one to one basis but also equipping parents to deal with the stress and anxiety particular difficulties may have caused.
Many parents feel the problems they thought were huge in the early years are nothing compared with the teenage years. If you are one of those I can help you.

My therapy is normally short term and focuses on the now.

One of my particular strengths is my ability to connect with young people.

The mother of an 8 year old boy with behavioural issues wrote: "Lys's sessions have exceeded our expectations. There is so much more laughter in our home now. My recommendations of her services couldn't be any higher."

Does your child have problems with:

Here is a personal testimonial from one of my 10 year old clients! His mother wrote "Thank you so much for your help. the whole family has benefited, not just my son."

My service is particularly focused on parents and their children between the ages of 4 and 18, although I can also help people who don't fall in this age range. My approach involves a unique blend of guidance for parents alongside specialised counselling tailored to the needs of young people. I am based in Sevenoaks and most of my clients are from Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, Edenbridge, Bromley, Tunbridge Wells, northwest Kent and the surrounding area.

Parents are often pleasantly surprised how few sessions their child needs. This is due to the particular way in which I work as explained more on the "Help for Parents" page. For issues such as bullying one session can be enough.

I am based in Sevenoaks, Kent. My address is 2 Littlecourt Road, TN13 2JG.

My normal fee is 65 for a session of about one hour, and I'm happy to say that I can often help to resolve a problem in a small number of sessions!

If you were to search for my website again it may be useful to be aware that my name is, rather unusually, spelt Lys Hix, not Liz Hicks.

    Home. Harry
This is my dog Harry who greets people at the door wagging his tail and who sometimes can be my coaching partner! Occasionally when a child is very shy initially, we go out with Harry and they talk more easily as we walk. Children love him because he is so friendly. He has also helped children overcome their phobias. I always try to make my sessions relaxed, welcoming and enjoyable for clients, with or without Harry.
